Bunty Upadhyay attacked Shaukat Ali under the influence of alcohol. He also attacked his sister and his wife. He burned the houses of two Muslim families and one Hindu family. He set fire to an autorickshaw as well. Multiple FIRs on the accused for arson and attempt to murder.
