40 Muslim Families Forced to Flee Village
2021-01-03
The residents of Mavi Meera village reported consistent harassment from local Hindu villagers. Instances include; Gujjar youth refusing to pay Rs 20 to a Muslim shopkeeper after purchase. After the shopkeeper insisted on the payment a fight broke out and the youth broke in and opened fire into his home. Muslims locals were met with cold responses from the police over a prolonged period of delay and no complaints registered whatsoever. Lack of response from the cops led them to flee from the village to avoid living with the constant harassment. They have left a “property on sale” notice on their houses and have fled to safer areas.
