Muslim mans hand chopped off in Panipat

Akhlaq Salmani, a 28 yr old man and a barber by profession was physically assaulted by 2 drunk men near a railway station. They saw a tattoo on his arm that had 786 written, seeing that they identified him as a Muslim and cut off his arm. He was found at 5AM by the railway lines having suffered multiple injuries and a blow to his head with a brick. Two FIRs were cross-filed between the assaulters and Akhlaq. He was arrested in January 2021 under sections of the POCSO Act and IPC and was acquitted on May 20, 2022 of all charges related to child sexual assault and kidnapping. The court order noted that Akhlaq was in fact a victim of the complainant and his right arm was cut off with a saw machine. No action has been taken against the perpetrators but Akhlaq’s brother Ikram says that he will fight till the end for justice.
