Couple assaulted on pretext of Love Jihad

A husband and wife living in Delhi's Jamia Nagar were assaulted by the wife's brother. He insisted that the girl had been forcibly converted implying 'Love Jihad' and reached their doorstep along with the UP Police. The Delhi HC had earlier ordered that the couple be provided protection and the Jamia Nagar Police Station was put in charge of the same. Younger brother of the husband was thrashed by the brother of the wife in order to determine her location which was undisclosed. Upon arrival, her brother tried to take her back and threatened the family of her husband of consequences. It was only when Advocate Sarfaraz Hussain, the couple's lawyer arrived that things cooled down. Initially, the Police misbehaved with him but apologized later on. Advocate Sarfaraz said that he will highlight such behavior on part of the woman's brother and the UP Police before the Delhi HC.
