BJP leader attacks interfaith couple

A Muslim man and a Hindu girl had recently married and they were staying at a house in Jogi Nagar. Irked over the inter-faith union, the BJP leader and his supporters, along with the woman's parents, termed the marriage as 'Love Jihad' and pelted stones at the couple's house. The woman lodged a complaint with police and a case was registered against seven people, including Mr. Sra, and the girl’s father, mother and other relatives under Section 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code among other Sections. Sukhpal Singh Sra was arrested.
