Migrant worker assaulted by ambulance driver in UP

When the lockdown started, Majid was put off work for 2 months during which he decided to return back home to Jharkhand by foot. On his way back, he boarded a truck but was taken off of it at Kanpur checkpost. An ambulance picked him and several other laborers for an alleged COVID test. The ambulance was stopped in a deserted place and other laborers were let go except Majid. He was verbally abused for being a Muslim followed by physical assault. His wallet was stolen and he managed to escape from the ambulance in between a tussle.
