Communal Clashes in Bhainsa Telangana
2020-05-10
A few people belonging to the Hindu community objected to prayers being held at a mosque in the area, saying that it is in violation of the social distancing in place due to COVID-19, while Muslims claimed that there were only 4-5 people praying while maintaining social distancing. Then a drunken person entered the Mosque and assaulted them. This led to a clash between the two communities, involving stone pelting on some houses resulting in destruction of property. The situation was brought under control by the police and Section 144 was imposed. Around 20 people were arrested.
