A mob gathered in his neighbourhood in Bhagirath Vihar in the evening, and within a couple of hours mayhem broke out, according to the district vice president of the BJP's minority cell. "The mob shouted religious chants and started torching homes. There are 19 Muslim homes in the vicinity, including mine and three of my relatives, and all of them were destroyed by fire, the man claimed. According to Raza, most of the rioters were from different locality. He claimed that the crowd stoned him and 12 other members of his family as they fled their burning home. I asked the police for assistance, but I was informed that they were understaffed. I didn't get a call or any other communication from the party, but I have been assured of justice,” he said
