Communal Clashes in Khambat

The police filed four different FIRs charging over 2,000 persons with rioting, arson, and attempted murder after taking suo motu notice of the skirmishes between two communities that occurred in the afternoon. The crowd allegedly continued to fight and throw stones at each other as well as at the police officers despite announcements and warnings for them to disperse. Over 25 homes, businesses, and vehicles were set on fire. 13 people in total were hurt, however there were no serious injuries. Yusuf Sheikh, a resident of Akhbarpura, passed away from a cardiac arrest after his business in the area was set on fire, according to the police. Regarding the violence in Akhbarpura, the FIR 33 persons have been officially named as suspects, while more than 1,000 unnamed suspects have also been arrested. The police have also detained 46 people thus far, but the precise number of arrests has not yet been confirmed.
