Communal clash took place in Ahmedabad

Members of two communities clashed on March 31 near Viramgam town in Ahmedabad district, resulting in nine injuries, two of them serious. According to a local police spokesman, the two groups fought each other with sticks and threw stones. When a police unit proceeded to apprehend the offenders, it too was attacked, he claimed. The conflict in Ahmedabad began when some Muslims objected to ladies from another community drying clothes on a wall that was still being built around a cemetery (Rural) According to inspector UB Dhakhada of the Viramgam police station, two people had their bones broken in the incident, and seven other people only had minor wounds. He claimed that the cops used tear gas to quell the situation and made some arrests.
