Members of two communities clashed on March 31 near Viramgam town in Ahmedabad district, resulting in nine injuries, two of them serious. According to a local police spokesman, the two groups fought each other with sticks and threw stones. When a police unit proceeded to apprehend the offenders, it too was attacked, he claimed.
