Rajab Alam, an 11-year-old Madrasa student who lives in the Sagar Dekhi police station-affiliated village of Kumar Sona, was on his way to his Madrasa. A couple bikers who were travelling from Malda to Behrampur at the moment caught hold of the student and forced him into chanting "Jai Shree Ram." They began beating him when he refused to obey. He was taken urgently to the hospital in Jangipur. Three criminals were apprehended by neighbourhood residents, while two escaped. A large crowd had gathered there when word of the mob lynching spread. Akhtar Alam said that his son knew nothing about politics. He requested the authorities to punish the offenders accountable.
