Following the bombing of a CRPF convoy in Pulwama last week, which claimed the lives of 49 members of the force, a shawl vendor from the Soibugh area of central Budgam district has been the latest victim of a wave of mob attacks in West Bengal. In the Taherpur neighbourhood of Nadia district last night, a vicious mob attacked and brutally assaulted 27-year-old Javid Ahmad Khan of Astanpora mohallah of Soibugh. Blood was seen gushing from Khan's nose in a gruesome footage of the attack that was shared on social media as the mob harassed and coerced him into shouting "Vande Mataram." while the police claimed that they have taken cognisance of the incident.
