One killed in Ram Navami violence in West Bengal

The Ram Navami rally which was backed by BJP chose to deviate from its allocated route and chose to pass through a minority dominated community. When they were approaching the Bursa village, they were stopped by the Arsha Block panchayat leader and were told to return. Meanwhile some miscreants torched the bike of the rallyists in Harnama village which inflamed the rallyists and they turned violent. 55 year old Shahjahan belonged to neither of the groups. He was taking a bath near a pond where he was hit with iron rods. He was taken to the hospital where he was declared dead. Even 4 policemen were attacked by the violent rallyists. BJP secretary Rahul Sinha said that the Ram Navami festivities were a big victory for the party and its ‘Hindutva agenda.
