Child lifting rumour led to lynching

4 people were lynched by mob in Bidar, Karnataka including a Qatari national over rumours of child lifting where a 32 year old software engineer died on spot. They had suffered critical injuries and were taken to a hospital in Bidar initially before being shifted to a hospital in Hyderabad. Three Whatsapp administrators who circulated the photos of the men that they are child kidnappers had been arrested by the police. The men were distributing foreign chocolates to the local school kids when someone recorded them saying they are child lifters and the videos went viral on WhatsApp. 30 more people were arrested who were part of the mob. They had gone to Bidar to attend a function and this incident took place when they went to see a piece of land which they were interested in buying.
