Cleric stripped and tortured in custody

On December 20, 2019, The UP Police detained Asad Raza Hussaini along with 100 of his students of ages 8-18, most of them orphans after violence at an anti CAA protest nearby. The students along with the cleric were thrashed and tortured brutally in custody. The students were denied access to the toilet at times, some of them suffered rectal bleeding and were forced to chant “Jai Shri Ram”. The cleric was kept for over 24 hours in a dark room where he was stripped in the cold and beaten.
