Social activist tortured and called 'Pakistani'

A Woman was arrested on 19th of December 2019 for protesting against CAA. While under police custody she was physically and verbally assaulted by the officials. They humiliated her and made questions on her identity as an Indian Citizen. They called her Pakistani. “I was slapped by many and called Pakistani because of my name,” Jafar told the news agency. “In the night, I was told that a senior police officer wanted to meet me. I had hoped that at least on the grounds of humanity and my constitutional rights, my family would be informed of my whereabouts but when I went to meet him, I was abused.” She was released on bail on 4th Jan 2020
