Early on Thursday morning, a petrol bomb was thrown at the Hidayathul Sunnath Jamath Mosque in Vedhambal Nagar, close to Ganapathy. No one was hurt, however the weapon did not explode. Hours earlier, a Hindu Munnani official had been assaulted. The group demanded a bandh on Saturday from 6 am to 6 pm across the entire district in response to the assault. Unknown individuals reportedly threw the explosive as people were sleeping inside the mosque. Police were notified by people inside, who then opened an investigation and gathered nearby CCTV footage.
