A man beaten for chasing cows out of field

A man named Muhammad Asgar was beaten with sticks, kicks and punches on 15 Aug in Garhi village of Arnas area of Reasi District of Jammu and Kashmir. Reportedly the incident was an outcome of the following sequence of events which took place recently. A few days ago some cows had trespassed in the fields of Asgar. Asgar's son in order to save the crops in the field chased the cows out of the field by hitting them with stones. One of the cows got wounded. The local landlord, chowkidar and the panch called Asgar to panch's house for a meeting regarding the wounding of the cow. Asgar went to the panch's house with his nephew Javid Ahmad. As soon as they entered the panch's house, a crowd started beating them mercilessly with sticks, kicks and punches. Javid escaped somehow but they kept on beating Asgar. They stopped only when the police interrupted. Some people made videos of the beating incident. These videos have gone viral. The perpetrators can be seen making slogans like "desh ke gaddaron ko goli maaro .... ko" and "Bharat mata ki jai". A policemen can also be seen in the clip.
