On 18th June, 2020, Israr was lynched by a mob of locals of Dehra village in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh who alleged him to be a "terrorist" as well as that of spreading Covid-19. He was continuously beaten with sticks, iron rods and sharp objects even when the victim's brother Muntayaz pleaded with the crowd to stop the assault. None listened to his brother's pleadings and Israr died after the assault when he was taken to a local hospital. Muntayaz has filed an FIR against the Hindu extremists who killed his brother Israr. In the said FIR he also mentioned that Israr was tied with ropes and was beaten up. The police after the said incident tweeted that Israr was mentally ill and used the word “abhiyukt” (Hindi for accused) for him. The tweet continued to say that Israr was the one responsible for agitating the mob by attacking one of the boys in Imaliya with a sickle and running off with his motorcycle. In the same tweet it was also said that he injured a boy named Vanshu in Dehra with a sickle. Currently the police is going on with the investigation and named the possible perpetrators in the said FIR.
