Minor accident led to communal violence in Ballia

A minor collision in Ratsar between a bicycle and a motorbike turned into a major communal clash. The teenage boy on the bicycle had a dispute after the collision with Iftekhar Alam who was riding on the motorbike. Arvind suffered injuries. Later he reached the spot with his family members and the local leader Mukta Nand Singh. There was a scuffle near Alam’s house. The boy’s condition deteriorated and he was taken to the hospital but was denied admission and was told to go to a major hospital. Someone spread the rumour that the boy had died. This enraged the locals and they set up roadblocks and even burnt 4 Muslim shops. Police jumped into action and arrested 22 people from both sides combined, including Iftekhar Alam.
