Trilokpuri communal riot

Communal violence broke out in Trilokpuri, Delhi. A mata ki chowki was set by the Hindus in front of a mosque on the night of Diwali. Muslims objected to it. The argument between the communities became heated. Soon stones were pelted from both sides and a shop was burnt. Police controlled the situation. After a few days a BJP MLA came to the spot and said that he will build a temple there. This aggravated the tension once again. The people pelted stones once again. There were also gun firings. Police force was deployed along with RAF and other forces. The rioting continued for a couple of days despite the heavy deployment of police. 35 people got injured including 13 policemen. Police arrested 70 people. Section 144 of CrPC was imposed in the area.
