When BJP won in 2014, the BJP workers in Bijapur took out a rally. They were applying colours on the passerby and playing provocative slogans. They were passing through a Muslim dominated market. They forcibly tried to apply colours to the Muslims. Some Muslims objected. The rallyists misbehaved and assaulted some Muslims. They even molested the women. Soon the situation turned violent. There was stone pelting from both sides. Shops were vandalised and burnt. More han a dozen of people got injured including policemen, women, and children. Section 144 of CrPC was imposed. The leader of the BJP workers was arrested along with 29 others. A case was registered under the sections 295, 153A, 354, and 353 of the IPC.
