Muslim cop beaten, paraded by Hindutva group after being stopped from hoisting saffron flag

Two policemen Yunus Shaikh and K Awaskar stopped a group of people from hoisting saffron flags at a chowk which just outside a masjid. They said that it could cause communal tension. The youth were celebrating Shivaji Jayanti. The next day, some youths spread the rumour that they had crumpled the saffron flag with their feet. They showed up with 200-300 men at the police chowki. The two policemen were beaten. The Muslim policeman, Yunus shaikh was beaten more severely. He was also made to parade on the street with a saffron flag. Police arrested at least 15 people related to the assault.
