A Muslim man, was reportedly stopped by cow vigilantes in the village of Bilandpur when they believed he was carrying cow flesh in a jute bag. He was attacked and turned over to the Nigohi police once they realized it was beef packages. At that point, the police made the choice to humiliate the man and forcibly made him pick packets of beef using his teeth. It had been photographed by villagers using their cellphones. Dinesh Tripathi, the Superintendent of Police (SP), City Shahjahanpur, has suspended a police inspector and a constable for the occurrence after taking serious note of it.
