Mohammad Afroz was attacked by locals on the assumption that he was stealing cattle. He saw a few cows grazing and when went near them, people assumed he was trying to steal them. He was a mentally disabled person, due to which wasn't able to speak and defend himself from the crowd. Police came to the situation and determined that the people who attacked weren't part of the cow saving vigilante group.
